Department of Watershed Management
Atlanta, GA
In 2008, the Atlanta Department of Watershed Management installed a new garden for their employees to enjoy. The city, acting in a sustainable manner, created a low maintenance garden of drought tolerant plants in a previously un-used portion of the property. Rather than using fresh potable water, the city desired to find an alternative source of water to irrigate the garden. The RainHarvest Company consulted with the city and suggested collecting rain water from the roof of an adjoining warehouse. A 3000 gallon cistern was installed to store a 30 day supply of irrigation water. We then designed and installed an extremely efficient Netafim drip system to distribute the harvested rain water throughout the landscape.
We installed a 3000 gallon cistern which will provided adequate water for garden maintenance throughout the growing season. The cistern size was determined by the area available between the staircase and the building.
