Having a new landscape installed was an exciting prospect for these homeowners even though current water restrictions in the metropolitan area restricts outdoor irrigation to a maximum of 30 days following completion of the installation. The idea of installing a cistern to store collected rain water for irrigation was a viable solution to this problem. However, location for the cistern would be difficult as there wasn’t any good location for a below ground or an above ground cistern. The RainHarvest Company suggested that the space below the backyard deck offered a creative opportunity for hiding a tank and using a space which is normally abandoned as un-usable.

As seen in the above pictures, the 2400 gallon cistern had to skillfully carried across the deck and lowered over into position by securing with ropes from the surrounding trees.

The cistern is hidden well below the deck in a space formally under-utilized.
