WHO WE ARE

The RainHarvest Company was created in the summer of 1998, as two guys watched the Chattahoochee River turn from a mellow, dark green to a filthy, orange soon after a typical summer thunderstorm. Yet even with all that rain, we were still gripped by a severe drought. The amount of storm water pouring into the river was not only far in excess of what would naturally flow into the river after such a rainstorm, but also was causing terrible erosion along the river banks. This scenario is repeated throughout the metro area in every creek, stream, and river. These two guys were witnessing not only an environmental crisis, but also a sad waste of resources. I was one of those two guys, and my name is Paul E. Morgan. The other was James J. King.

Our parent company, Morgan's Landscape Company, has been creating gardens in the Metro Atlanta area since 1984. The continual drought has encouraged us to develop new ways to supply the necessary water to irrigate the landscapes and gardens of our customers. Wells are becoming popular in the rural portions of the state. Conservation, always a necessity, is becoming more important. Then, while witnessing that rainstorm, we began to wonder, "why can't some of that rainwater be used more wisely?" We could capture (harvest) some of that water, and as an added benefit, we could reduce the damage endured by our waterways during these summer storms. Thus, the experiment began.
